1993 & 1994

Paper Speaking Dress is a performance of language and materials. During the performance, at the Soho Guggenheim Museum on November 2, 1993 and again on April 2, 1994 at The Kitchen, Lesley Dill reads aloud Poem #512 “The Soul Has Bandaged Moments” by Emily Dickinson while a performer is wearing a dress of paper, inked with the full poem “The Soul Has Bandaged Moments”. Simultaneously, other performers are pulling and untying ribbons from the dress.
